Who says you have to do core stuff every day Lil? My PT has put some basic pilates exercises online: inspirefitness.co.uk and I'm sure there are plenty of videos on youtube.

My Pilates teacher used to advocate a little every day but not a big session. That's why this thread could be great -- there is value in making a few moves a daily habit.

Scribbler - I don't have to do them every day, but Fizz told me NO RUNNING for a week, and she said to just work on my core and do some stretching every day - it's probably just to keep me off the streets!! Found my pilates book. May need to watch the DVD that came with it, as I'm finding all the inhale/exhale etc etc a bit confusing!! Have done my foot and leg strengthening exercises, but no core (see above ^^^) or stretching yet. |

I think pilates is designed to build flexibility and strength. It's very focused on the core, so pretty much all the exercises engage the abdominal muscles in some way. It's gentler than just going and blasting out crunches at the gym and does involve co-ordinating arms and legs too, so there are probably some benefits there too. I like it because it's a different pace and intensity to my other training. |
