Dvorak Aug 2018 12:19pm, 14 Aug 2018 16,489 posts	0 Dvorak Well done bigleggy (and bigleggy's sunflowers)! My tallest (probably) has now flowered. I think it is just short of my height, but as it is currently fair teeming doon, I am not venturing outside to check.

I've got two, perhaps three, over six foot now (as measured by the fence). I don't think they're competition winners though. And I want to harvest the petals for soap making before they cark it too...not sure when the optimum time for this is.

OK - this years Competition.

The Roolz

1. Begins when you can
2. Ends September 4th
3. Biggest one wins

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)

7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
