Bobby Hebb wrote the song so we can be sure that this recording is how it’s “supposed” to sound. What I didn’t know is that he wrote it after his brother was killed…
Since Macca posted the Bobby Hebb track I've been racking my brains and can only come up with another of his that had any kind of play on the rare soul/northern soul scene, can anyone help me out? I'm sure there were a few. This is the one I remember:
Nice one Steve, one of the best ever. Have I ever delivered my spiel about Revilot records?? I suspect I have, so will keep stumm
So, a strange NS-related thing happened yesterday:
I was getting changed after an evening swimming session and greeted a guy I haven't seen for over a year (CV-19 etc), he's one of the mainstays of the local soul music scene and does a bit of local radio DJ-ing etc, out of the blue he asked "were you at the Originals concert at the Ritz in 2002"? This took me back as you'd have to know me well to have that fact at your fingertips, anyhow it transpires that there is a quote - apparently from ME - on the 2021 "Northern Soul Calendar" for the month of June. Richard Searling put the calendar together and although I have corresponded with him many times in the past, it's always been via a particular private music forum and never directly unless it's a nod and "hello" at soul nights. I genuinely can't recall making this statement, but it has been nearly 20 years ......
I thought I might indulge of my "other" passion for your entertainment
