While wasting half an hour on youtube along comes Curtis Mayfield' Move on Up being danced to by 2 ladies under the title Northern Soul in the garden. No idea why it came up as I was watching some motor rallying and went back to the home page and there it was.
This brought back so many memories of this then 15 year old from a South Coast beach holiday in 1971 when the song was released as a single and spent some time in the charts.
Like most of the songs that I love I have it on most formats and saw a greatest hits CD in Manchester a few years ago that I snapped up immediately to add to my collection.
Gospel, songwriting, his own record label...his qualities are many, not least his raising awareness of civil rights and equality. Even after his devasting accident on stage, Mayfield went on composing and singing.
People Get Ready .... they've been getting ready a very long time...
It may not be on the internet... I know my friend's gid where this happend was recorded though, but they were cycling buddies and lost touch with them 9 years ago...
