Reporting in from Farnborough this morning. 1:46.56 on my watch (no chip time yet) which is an 11-second PB which I'll happily take! I knew the splits for sub-1:45, 1:47/PB and sub 1:50 but had no real plan beyond 'start comfortably hard and see what happens'. Quite breezy at times with a miserable mile 9 straight into the wind. Hopefully there's more to come too, once I'm done with marathon training and can do something a bit more half-specific / taper properly etc.

Hope Dibble had a good race too!

Well done, CasB medal That's promising and makes a sub-4 marathon look very realistic.

Very well done CasB! Yes, there were some bits at Farnborough with vicious headwinds (presumably there were also some tailwinds, but i didn't notice those!). The course was quite a bit different from when I ran it 6 years ago and it felt a bit more exposed on the parts around the airport (and for small planes, those Gulfstreams make a hell of a noise when they take off!).

Stayed between the 1:30 and 1:40 pacers and on the out and back section I could tell I must be about half way between them. Really pleased with my time of 1:34:16. From that the Fetch training log predicts a marathon time of 3:18! In my dreams!!

Next stop Bramley 20 mile on Feb 11th.

Good work, Dibble medal 3:18 is a rather lively marathon estimate based on 1:34:16, but sub-3:30 wouldn't be ridiculous.

My 10k yesterday predicts a 5:06 marathon, but you can't predict a marathon off a 10k, even when you ran the 10k at your typical marathon heart rate. I expect I'll be slower than that at Seville next month, but should make the 6 hour cut-off unless something goes wrong on the day.

Thanks. I think something near 3:30 might have been possible for a marathon if it was late March/April and I had more time to do some longer runs. With only 5 more weeks to go, I think it's going to be slower.

Bramley will be a better indicator provided you don't leave your race out on the course there.
