Iām following a program someone gave me that progresses from a half plan to full. My half is on week 12, week 10 has an 11 mile run & week 11 has a 12 mile run. |

Velociraptor
The Tanda predictions are wildly optimistic for me, with the exception of both times I've run the Great Langdale Marathon, when it was wildly off in the other direction.

I will be interested to see how it compares for me as at the moment it is saying pretty much what I feel I could currently do.

The Tanda calculator has me doing it in 3.36, which I feel will be a bit of a stretch! Runalyze say 3.52 which is about what I'm aiming for

That's interesting. I would ask is it because you do a lot of your running steady instead of slow but I know Velociraptor does a lot of slower runs. I have never heard of Runalyze either š |

Solo yes, I do try to slow my running down, and at least once a week run 10k at low aerobic, and try to keep my long runs and recovery runs at about 10 min/mile pace. But, as you note, my average is about 9 min 30 miles. Also, I think the calculator uses weekly mileage (I am trying to maintain 50 miles/week), and also uses WAVA from a last race (mine is about 67 from my last half). Runalyze is a great website. It uses your training to do some detailed recording, and also has forecasting and prognosis tools. It seems to focus more on your calculated V02 max, as well as distance of long runs and weekly mileage etc to calculate your times. It's not perfect though, as it has my VO2 max falling considerably since my marathon training began (due to me running slower intentionally) |

Got 20 miles done yesterday. More important was that I felt good at the end.

Tanda predicted 3:41 for me last time, Fetch calculator predicted 3:42, I ran 3:42 in previous marathons Tanda has been about 8 minutes optimistic although one of them was a hilly marathon. The fetch calculator is a good bet I think, assuming you a) have a recent half marathon to input b) have done consistent (but not incredible) training. I think the more perfect the marathon cycle is the closer you can run to the Riegel calculator. I think you can probably go faster than 3:52 minimag, if you have a good base of long runs especially. |

auburnette it is nice when you can get to close to what you think you can run in a marathon! Will play with the other calculators too š Feeling good at the end of 20 is definitely a bonus. Good stuff Osar the Grouch. |
