Need to get to Lanark soon! Thinking of Loch Leven this Saturday.

Omg Lanark was tough! Both mentally and physically. I’ve done 30 different parkrun courses but I’m putting it up in the top 3 most challenging with Camperdown and Plean (which I strongly detested 😂)

Pollok was the first ever parkrun I did in Feb 2010 so will be heading there next weekend for their 500th event and then back again end of October for my 150th parkrun.

Tough fun or tough detestable?

Enjoy your 150th next week :-) I never realised it was the 500th at Pollok. I think I will still run the Hamilten instead though (entries close tomorrow - only a tenner).

Plean is possibly my favourite out of the 26 Scottish ones I’ve done.

Plean I always thought would appeal strongly to a select group of parkrunners (and there is a place for that), but lack real across the board attraction. Interestingly, in a facebook group recently, someone asked people to name their top three favourite non-home Scottish parkruns, and Plean received quite a few mentions. I might go back and collate the answers later. (Mine were Strathclyde, Ruchill and Lochore Meadows.)

Tough as in I really struggled and won’t rush back but would go back again.
My top 3 Scottish ones would be Falkirk, lochore and aviemore out of the ones I’ve done.

Gateway to the Glens 10k; brutal finish(walked it), good mixed terrain race though.

Looking forward to some Parkrun tourism after Loch Ness next week.

Lochore Meadows is high up my list.

Gateway to the Glens does not sound like in for my to do list ;-).

Results are in, for those three favourite non-home parkruns (mentioned above). So from 25 respondents:

The clear winner was Aviemore with 10 votes.
Second equal on 7 were Lochore Meadows and Plean.
Fourth equal on 5 came Bressay, Falkirk and Lanark Moor.

If I add in princesszee's votes then it's … much the same :-).

No votes for Pollok or Edinburgh :-o (someone did mention Pollok, but was not counted as they only cast two votes because they love Falkirk so much they refused to name a third!).

Not counting parkruns I have some involvement with (ie the northern ones) I'd go for Ruchill, Linwood and Perth.

Tomorrow I might change my mind!
