57.5 Degrees of Pain
Neil McCover Half was as well organised as ever. And got some great weather. I was trying to run it at marathon pace as practice for Rannoch on Sunday, but set off a bit too fast, went slow in the middle and too fast at the end. Will hopefully do better at the weekend.

I can also recommend Ruchill parkrun, especially if you work in a warmup on the canal. Harder than Springburn or Pollok, but easier than Tollcross I'd say.

Welcome Paul. Work sometimes takes me to Grantown, lots of good running options in the area.

Fair assessment of Ruchill (the whale), good wee run - I think it should be aboot eekies with Springburn, but feels harder - the tail is tough. Great views out over Glasgow as well. And as you write, the canal on the doorstep - one time I was there I walked down to the city; another out to the Maryhill Locks and up the Kelvin to Dawsholm Park. Plenty to see. For the inaugural, iirc someone cycled the canal from Denny for it.

Everyone visit Ruchill! Should have higher numbers but these parochial Weegies seem to like to stick to their ain.

You could always just trot home along the canal to Falkirk, or Edinburgh. I've done that a couple of times ;-) (But never again though - ultras are... hard!) :-) G

I think Ruchill is harder than Tollcross, Springburn is relatively easy compared to both.

Off on hollybags, so no Aviemore for me. Always seems to clash with the school holidays, which is great for people coming to the area, not so good for those of us going the other way :)

It was my last race before the kiddiwinks came along - in fact I worked out later why I wasn't running as well as I expected to......

Think I'm going to try Linwood this weekend for the first time and Dunfermline next weekend, also my first time. 😁

One is pretty flat, the other ... not so much :-p. Happy touristing :-)

(I was at Livi on Saturday. I did not excel. Still, three parkruns there, three new pairs of NBs from the outlet :-).)

I'm doing the 10k at Aviemore OC. Dropped down from the half as didn't think I could do it justice this but MrDQ is still up for the half.
