The SPO is absolutely full of lurgy, she works with special needs kids, who bless em dont understand re germs etc so could be that, but I'd rather not develop that just to prove to myself that I had a reason for a crap day.......I'll defer my Goodwood place, that would not go well on current form.

That's very strange, TR, maybe that there is something lurking. I'd still think there could be something in it for you at Goodwood. Perhaps make a decision later next week?

Oo, splendid effort. As tr says, made me chuckle when I read the 'keep a lid on it' since followed by a 1.26 first half. Enjoy the beers.

13m today with a 3m and 2m block at threshold. First came in 5.51 then 2nd at 5.53m

Don't feel quite right myself, warm up felt awful so was surprised the reps came out well. Feel tired and drained, slight headache and runny nose. I'm one of the only ones post Lisbon not to be unwell, so maybe it's catching up with me, or I'm just tired.

OO sounds like you judged it well. Hope you are on the beerios now. Enjoy you trip.
TR probably better to stick in there and grind it out. Not worth analysing too deeply. I had a similar awful day at Redcar and bounced back a couple of weeks later. Maybe give it a day or too before deciding on Goodwood.

Easy 15 here for a mid 40s week. The knee held out but it was very cold and unpleasant.

Good to hear that your knee was ok for the fifteen miles OO61. Cold here too and worse forecast this week.

Nice reps considering you felt off DT19. Hope you're going to continue to dodge the lurgy.

DT - you've obviously got the lurgy coming

OO61 - yes I'm not over analysing it, I didn't thrash myself.

The overriding aim is always sub3, but it really boils my p*ss that I've run 38min and 1.25 at best this year.

Best have a few frothies later.

OuchOuch
Unlucky TR, as OO61 says stick at it, I ran a 1.38 half a month ago and was considering just jogging around today at one stage. Today would physically have done you good if not your confidence. I would keep Goodwood on the agenda and go again, what have you got to lose?

Thanks for the thanks, surprised myself a bit but then realised there are benefits in running marathons regularly re: muscle memory.

Thanks LMH for the topical ibuprofen tip knee soo much better.

DT - That's a great session. Hopefully your feeling a bit meh due to the Lisbon weekend catching up with you.

I don't normally bother with finisher medals but the Verona one had a saying in the back which I thought sums up finishing a / any marathon "My courage, my strength, my sacrifice, my victory".

Official time: 2.57.11, no official position as I entered the non competitive race. Interestingly, the nationalities of the 4 runners in front of me, Iranian, Hungarian, Italian & Czech, it was a very pan European race.

Ouch Ouch - defo worth keeping a big marathon medal, I give all the other medals to kids at the race finish.

I'm going to defer it, I've had enough of poor 2024 races. i've got sore hammies and glutes, I've a lot of glute bridges to do.

Ouchouch, yes hopefully it's just the week catching up on me. I did fall asleep on sofa during rugby 2nd half, which I was quite thankful for!!

How long are you away for?

Tr, you know you best so no doubt that's the best decision for you.

Checked my work e mails, something I don't usually do. Other than deleting a few e mails there were no nightmares waiting for me so ought to be normal service next week.

Sorry it didn't go well today TR, sod's law that the conditions were OK. Your decision of course but I would be similarly gutted with your ROI.

OO.. another fine sub 3 marathon, love the sound of that medal too. Enjoy the celebrations.

OO61.. good 15m today, bet it's a chilly week in the NE this week!

Fell over crossing an uneven road in London this morning. As a result my knee is quite sore, ice packs already in use. After all those miles cycling and running in recent months I fall over walking across a street! 🤔

About This Thread

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
