Ooh, I didn't know that SPR, that there were different decays for marathon. Need to get back to doing some longer distance races (and actually not being carp at them! ) G

If you target sub 18 at parkruns over the next couple of months Baz you'll crush that 4.0.

RBR reckons Yorkshire marathon was marginally easier than Mancs.
Yeah, right (as I said when the maths teacher told me that two negatives make a positive but two positives do not make a negative).
So that makes it only my 10th best performance of all time. Still bumps me down to 2.8 through knocking out a poorer result.

I'm pleased to see that Saturday's XC race is now my current top race with a net score of 1.0. It's not my best race of the year though, track performances have suffered a bit of time decay since August or earlier. Still not as strong over XC as track and there's definitely things to improve on but nice to have a performance that is closer to my track standards.
Also interesting to note my best raw performance is over 5000m (2.0) vs 1500 (2.7). I definitely feel I didn't get the max out of myself at 1500m this year.

I'm waiting to have a laugh at the RBR rankings associated with my race - the race details said it was 9900m but it has measured 11k on every watch I've seen so far, and times back that up. So if RBR logs it as a 9.9k race, we're all going to be well off the mark with a very big vSSS adjustment!!

Lol Larkim, definitely a hard race if you get a bonus km.
I should have said adj score rather than net above.

Merry Christmas & Happy New G(rrr)
Surprisingly one of my XCs actually contributed to my current handicap.

Tricky to read but that's SSS and VSSS respectively of 3.8 1.6 and 4.9 and 3.1. The first 9K measured 8.8K on my Garmin, and was on a good weather day, so relatively firm underfoot. Lots of super speedy Uni guys there. The second 8.1K measured 8.2K on my Garmin and was in atrocious conditions, very muddy underfoot. But still with super speedy Uni and other national level athletes!
I ran quicker at this Saturday's, but have no idea how that will show in SSS and VSSS terms! G

Only your top five (the ones with +) count towards your handicap.

Though that 9k XC race did count until the 30th Nov parkrun displaced it I think.
parkruns score oddly because people often don't run to their PB potential. XC will score oddly because everyone will underperform compared to their distance PBs over the same distance, so attract big SSS scores across the field. Though the XC outcome is precisely what RBR is supposed to be doing - adjusting individual performance for the impact of conditions on the day etc.
