Rich - once I get my transport sorted out I'll let ya know. But I don't mind going the beach afterwards.

I’ve only just caught up on this and feel so sad. It’s definitely one of those life is so unfair moments. His blogs were so full of warmth and poetry and they helped me a lot when my mum, who lived yards from the beach at Crosby, died. Crosby turned down my stepfather’s request for a bench too, so she has a plaque at the Liverpool Phil now instead. I’ll have a moment of reflection for them both now on my next visit to my stepfather’s.

I’ll be going. Despite not engaging much on here these past few years, the sad news I heard about Steve via other sources led me back here, and reminded me what an incredible place Fetcheveryone is. After scrolling through the initial concerns raised, then the collective tributes on here after the news of his passing was confirmed, it made me reflect on how this website connects people, is a really, really good thing, and can be a safe place for us to ‘meet’. I met Steve whilst on the beach twice, he was ace. |

Welcome back Toffee. Like I never actually met Steve, I don't think we have actually met either. But as with Steve, we may have inadvertently crossed paths when you've run in my neck of the woods (Formby). I too will have a quiet moment each time I am walking along Crosby seafront |

Poorly Feet
I'm so sad to hear this. I don't use Fetch any more but I've had a text today telling me the news so this was my first port of call. I first encountered Steve on RW in the days when I did the Yorkshireman in Haworth. He was a 'Streaker' in those days! We met up for training runs, he took me on one of his Crosby beach runs to meet the iron men, and we had a day out in New Brighton where he had the most enormous fish in a cafe! Then, unbelievably, we bumped into each other in the start area at the London Marathon a few (?) years ago. We lost touch when I came off social media but we made contact again in Covid times and I've still got the text from 3rd October 2021 where I said we'll wait for the rain to stop then arrange a meet up. Sadly, I never got round to it 🥲 Most of my photos of Steve are on my camera but I'd like to share one which I made into a magnet and which has been in my kitchen since 2009 (excuse the food splashes!) It was the Auld Lang Syne fell race in Haworth, and a great day out for me, Steve and Colin (Woody). I vividly remember having fish pie in the pub afterwards 😀 Rest in peace Steve. You've left me with some lovely memories and I thank you for those xxx |

Found the VLM one. It was my first attempt in 2012. What were the chances of bumping into Steve? |
