Tricky for any party going after the 'worker' vote, the disillusioned vote and the middle England vote, and making the economics believable. If Labour went left economically - I reckon that costs them power by missing out on more of the worker vote than they imagine, loosing much of middle England and having economics that don't make sense to people. The Lewis idea certainly makes sense to politically engaged people. But one of the first comments when I looked was more or less "eh, do you like Starmer or not, no idea?". The ideas need to be able to clearly (and concisely) answer the anger that people are getting poorer, people don't feel safe and services are getting worse. |

The answer is that the tories have deliberately sabotaged public services and it will take a fair bit of time and money to put right.

Here’s a thought to get the public onside - stop the energy suppliers ripping people off with spurious arguments. It’s no secret that I have a (small!) second home in Portugal. On the day that January’s Energy cap was revealed (“only” going up by 1.2%), I got a letter from my local energy supplier advising that because of continued falling of the global energy price my electricity cost would be reduced by 6% from Jan 1 (to €0.11/kwh if you’re interested, with a daily standing charge of €0.19). I’m pretty sure “we” are impacted by the same global changes (they are used often enough to justify increases), so who is pulling the wool… |

Trump voters hail controversial cabinet picks as the government they want Don’t anyone ever try to tell me that Trumps supporters aren’t as thick as pig shit. His “cabinet” has been likened to the Star Wars cantina. Full of misfits and ne’er do wells. I think that’s unfair on the cantina customers to be compared to Trumps idiots. |
