It’s an interesting fact that of those declared or are considering running for the leadership of the Conservative Party, the clear majority are from ethnic minority communities. Whatever our politics that is something to be celebrating.

With people like Shapps standing it makes you wonder if they have any self awareness of how they are perceived by the general public. Or is it just a complete and utter self belief that they can persuade anyone to change their views?

Zaharwi entered now. If his behaviour is anything like Tues-Thurs this week, tomorrow he'll not be standing, by the afternoon he'll be urging Johnson to stand again and by Monday morning he'll be launching his campaign again.

larkim - I wonder if they might be actually quite smart? Or with Machiavellian advisers?
ie stand now, in the knowledge that they'll withdraw later on the promise of a plum job (if any of them are that) from the leading candidates later?
If I was a devious minded politician, I'd be trying that.
Oh, sorry, they're in it to serve the public, not themselves. So wouldn't be that then.
