"BREAKING: Defence Secretary Ben Wallace - currently the favourite among Tory members - rules himself out of leadership contest."
Crikey, that's a few punts buggered.

Ruled himself out of the first few rounds to come marching through as the unity candidate in a later round, maybe?

Agree it's about raising all boats rather than tearing some down.
(I wouldnt wish my 20% real terms pay cut over the past 12-13years anyway)
But.
We do have to deal with the ultra wealthy. And bring earning from wealth to the same (at least) level as income tax.
And we have to make sure that there are far few loopholes for the ultra wealthy.
PR and tearing up the tax system and starting again would be my main 2 policy goals as a labour govt before I even thought about rejoining the EU.
I'd put other stuff like rebuilding the human rights that have been eroded up there too.

In the days of "stalking horse" candidates that didn't need to happen did it? Shame, that adds an additional level of intrigue!

Truss and Sunak. I don't think Labour should be scared by either, particularly not Truss, who couldn't run a Brownie troop.

Someone on Twitter has put together a compilation of Braverman’s utterings, she makes that sociopath Patel look like a moderate.

Steve Baker is supporting her. That says a lot. She might be the "wingnut" candidate.

I'd say she's the Nasty Party candidate but she's not the only one...maybe the Nastiest Party?

Still depressed me that the Tories can start of a leadership election with four declared candidates, only one of whom is white and half of whom are female. Putting aside the hateful personalities that they are, the fact that the Tories have a more overtly diverse leadership group makes me uncomfortable.
(And yes, I realise that when we scratch the surface, the diversity of the Tory leadership candidates may literally only be skin deep when those candidates have come through wealthy, private education etc etc)
