From my seat, the current UK Govt leadership is just slack. Borders are already controlled and a swift decision was needed rather than then the blundering we see.

It's worth listening to Tim Harford on the More or Less programme on "Antibody tests, early lockdown advice and European deaths": bbc.co.uk Basically the Government are lying about the number of tests, we completely missed out on early lockdown causing tens of thousands more deaths and we are about to have more deaths in the UK than in the whole of the rest of the EU. But then several people have been saying all of that on this thread all along. |

UK not the only ones, and by far from the worse, when it comes to massaging figures - what Spain's doing, in only reporting a death in their daily and overall total if it's recorded within 24 hours of death, is shocking !! ( listen to 11:00 onwards in the above link )

Mind you Brazil stopped reporting their deaths entirely and had to be forced to start again by the judge. What is it with right wing demagogues and causing the largest number of deaths in their countries? It's almost like they don't care about the value of human life, only their own and their families...

Value of money vs Value of human lives especially when they're in the way of a leader progressing. Quite convenient to have a virus distraction.
