Just had a look at a few other traces - all about 2.95 miles and with the satellite view overhead you can see that the traces start at the first "man", turn at the "man", turn again at the car park entrance and that's it. With straight lines in between, it can't be anything other than short, I fear - not that it really matters one jot of course, close enough is good enough for me!
The only bit of sand that caused any slow down was the soft stuff before regaining the prom, though having to watch out for footprints even along the harder sand was interesting - a definite advantage for those up at the front.
Will have to visit again, my kids would enjoy that one as something different.

Nice to see Scorge at Stonehaven today. I ran with my former next door neighbour as she was doing her very first parkrun. We're getting bigger numbers now, 54 today. We've had quite a few new runners and word is spreading.

Chalked up my 150th parkrun this morning. It will seem strange if I ever get to 250, (even if I was to get there in the next 2 years), as by then it will be quite common.

I was timer today at Oxford. We had a problem at one point when the finish funnel became absolutely stacked and so had a pile of finishers outside the finish line. I (mistakenly as I was subsequently told) clicked them as they came to a stop. We’ve never had a problem like this in the past and I put it down to there, coincidentally, being a large number finishing at a similar times.

That's what I would have done. What should you have done?

If it were a race I would agree that you should only click as they cross the line, but park run isn't a race! I would have thought that what you did was appropriate as that would give people an accurate record of how long they took to run 5km

I was told when I fessed up to the RD afterwards that the time should be when they cross the line. That is what my co-timer was doing. As you say TR, it’s not a race.
