I liked seeing vests as a beginner - it made me realise that clubs had runners at my standard when I saw them around me.

Of the 300-400 runners at our parkrun, the vast majority wear non-club kit (even if they are members of a club.) In my case, it purely depends on which top I put my hands on first thing on a Saturday morning :-). I suppose if everyone else is in club kit a newbie might be a bit intimidated but the numbers at my home parkrun, and at other parkruns I've done, have simply not come anywhere near saturation point.

I never wear club kit for parkrun - club kit is for races & parkrun is obviously not a race as there are no times recorded, no placings, no PB's - hey wait a minute

The only time I've worn club kit to parkrun was when we did the takeover. I either wear parkrun T or Fetch vest

I come from a club football background, if you are taking part in something serious you wear the kit - end of chat - as for the frankly by now very boring thing about parkrun not being a race - I have raced every one I have done, if that causes a problem for someone then they need to ask themselves why. Interesting that not only are the on Power of 10 but form most of your Run Britain Handicap if you do them every weekend.

I went from wearing whatever was at hand to *always* wearing my yellow SRC T-shirt to *always* wearing my 50 Club T-shirt to *always* wearing my 100 Club T-shirt to alternating between that and my apricot vest depending on how hot it was. Now I have a club vest as well to complicate things, but it's fairly moot as I've been off running on doctor's orders for the last two months!

I don't wear club kit at parkrun - we were set up independently of the two local clubs (between whom there is a healthy rivalry) by two senior members of the two local clubs. We don't want non-club runners to associate the event with one club or another.
I do sometimes wear club colours when I'm touristing, though.

I wear whatever I feel like on the day, be that a club vest, race t-shirt, apricot vest or just normal garb.
They're only clothes!

Gosh, The_Saint, you seem a bit touchy there: obviously a joke by Foxy. Anyone here suggesting that you or anyone else racing them is a problem? Clubs often include a parkrun as a club's champ race and I haven't heard of that being an issue.
As for the football thing: is that not because you are on two opposing sides playing against each other?

lots of clubs include parkruns in their race series. its a nice sight to see our (small) parkrun bolstered by a group of runners from a local club all wearing their shirts!
