I recall making a pudding in the 70's that was basically a packet of ginger biscuits sandwiched together with whipped cream. The biscuits softened into the cream and it was totally delicious. It probably laid down a whole lot of plaque in my arteries too.

Just added a 7-pack of Gold to my weekly order. I don't think I've had one before. They were the winner of the local radio poll last week about 'best chocolate bar' from the call-in on the Caramac day. tesco.com I'm still happy with chocolate hobnobs as biscuit of choice. Or a box of Victoria choc biscuits around Christmas. (like now) Or even Sultana and Oak cookies, even if no chocolate and not McVities. |

LazyDaisy Are you sure they weren't Brandy Snaps? They were a real '70's thing! Fwiw, I used to love the Farmhouse Biscuits factory shop in Nelson, where you could buy tins of biscuits made for Fortnum & Mason, Harrods etc for a fraction of the cost they would be in those stores (ok, tins often had tiny faults on them but still made great pressies) ... but the factory shop has gone upmarket now and not so many bargains to be had ![]() |

A colleague of mine brought a confection like that to work a few Christmasses ago. I wouldn't have eaten it because I hate ginger nuts and prefer crunch to sludge, but it had to be binned because she'd laced the cream heavily with brandy and there was no way anyone was going to do a patient-facing job smelling of that.

I bought a box of brandy snaps as a treat the other week. I eat them straight out of the packet with nothing added. The Beefeater chain used to serve a desert called Brandy snap Corruption many years ago. A brandy snap cone filled with berry fruits, ice cream and cream 🤤 |

No, definitely ginger biscuits - it was in a Sainsbury's cookbook which I've still got somewhere! I think it was this one (which, IIRC, cost something like 50p new) amazon.co.uk
