Sushi.
I swam at New Brighton on the Wirral on Wednesday. No thermometer but it was easily 17/18c. Felt lovely but j do wish the sea wasn't so salty. 😉

hey guys
Having had such a poor swim at Outlaw I've been thinking and trying to work out what went wrong!
so I have a question
anyone use goggles that cover the nose? If so which ones?
Ta!

Not sure what your issue was but I’ve always used a nose clip. Weaning myself off it now but it was necessary to get me swimming properly to start with.

JDA I used to wear a nose clip and had stopped using it
In the pool today there was a very splashy man .... so I followed him as the choppy water got me at outlaw
I noticed that I "panic" about air! So I lift my head more. Then I worry about the who face full of water (totally illogical I know!)
My head then went back to the few times I have had issues in choppy water
I get anxious about breathing .... I notice I breath in with a big wide mouth so need to fix this .... and in my panic to get air I lift my head more. This naturally means I am getting all the splashes in my face.
So I figured if it's a panic about air and getting water up my nose and choking not being able to breathe then prevent it!
I'm going to buy a new nose clip (mine is long gone) but then thought about what if that slips off (I have a tiny nose!) and that lead me to goggles with nose covers!

that was long sorry!

The Mussile
I have never worn goggles that cover the nose EP.

FWIW DHB Fury (mirrored) and Turbo (Tinted) are the ones I have found that cause me the fewest issues and thus stress. Only other thing that I absolutely need for OW is ear plugs

Had a 'rubbish' swim at Outlaw half but that was compared to where my swimming had got to pre-covid. It turns out it was the fastest non-current assisted Half Iron swim I had done and I swam easy rather than coming out of the water half-dead. FWIW in water time was about 40 mins and I was planning for 35 before my training fell apart over the summer

it's the choppy bits that get me so the TT start with so many people about for a longer time freaked me (I was a lot better at the half but took the middle pontoon in so less people)
With a mass start I'm fine and waves I can cope with (just!) as you chose the right side to breath
At outlaw my adrenaline was super high for 2 days and I was really anxious knowing I had time pressures at it just all got to me
but after 25 mins and a good puke I was fine!

I’m on Colonsay for a week. About to go check out the beach beside our cottage. Hoping to get some swimming done.
