Similar experience with foxgloves. Got some in multi-colours several years ago, since when pinky-purple ones have been popping up all over the garden. Including the front garden, though the originals were in the back.

Packet of cornflower seeds, claimed to be all blue but turned out to include pink and white ones.

Shallot and onion harvest underway. Broad Beans all.done, a few peas left. Courgettes going in flowering already.

Experimental carrot crop going in too...late but might work out.

Foxgloves are biennials so what you sow this year will flower next year.

Bit late to this thread, but picked first batch of blackcurrants today. Not enough to make jam, but nice stewed up and eaten with ice cream 😋
Tatton Hall RHS Flower Show tomorrow. It's going to be hot and I can't decide what to wear 🤔

Certainly do. My mother is from Southern Germany and I always associate them with my great aunt baking "Träubleskuchen" when we visited in our summer holidays and stayed with my grandmother and her sister and would have afternoon "Kaffee und Kuchen" (although I didn't like coffee in those days) when friends/relatives visited. Although as a kid, this seemed to be almost every day! My job was using the electric whisk to make "Schlagsahne" - (a vanilla/chantilly whipped cream). That said the cake we make now is a much simpler version and no whipped cream otherwise I would need to do a lot more running!

Oh! Can I have the recipe please? We also have "slagroom" in the Netherlands! Much better than whipped cream!
