Most of my potatoes got seriously frosted last night (East Anglia), and another sharp frost is forecast for tonight. They were too well grown to earth up any more and I haven't got enough protective coverings. I know they will grow back, but they will have spent energy doing that instead of producing tubers :-(

'fraid not Lizzie. I have garden fleece and poly tunnels but not enough to cover all of the potatoes. I have 9 rows, average length 10 feet. I haven't needed to protect my potatoes from frost for quite a few years.

I have had to water! I trans located my hedge a few weeks ago, to make a new entrance into my garden for vehicles and parking. It is currently a toss up between shrivelling to a cinder because it is warm and dry during the day, and has been for months, or freezing to smithereens at night. My kiwi's, vine, wisteria, magnolias all look worse for wear. I daren't look underneath the plastic bags in which I wrapped the branches of my walnut tree. One more frosty night, that makes 5 in a row, and we should be ok. I really fear for my fruit :( I need food so much right now!
