I'm going to hold on to mine in case it increases in value. And because getting a one-off memento is why I entered the virtual event.

Much as I love medals, I would never buy one for an event I'd not done. And I'm not selling my precious treasure.

I was going to say I couldn't imagine wanting a memento of a race I hadn't done, but I've had some nice t-shirts from events I've volunteered at and my all time favourite memento used to be a Box Hill Knacker Cracker beanies which I got for marshalling.

I rarely keep medals so am more than happy to sell it rather than put it in a charity bag or the bin. No idea why people want to buy them though I think one year one went to someone who seemed to be a medal collector generally rather than just running or London ones.

Wow shocked and stunned, I did see on FB someone said they'd seen the t-shirt and medal on eBay I wondered who would buy that!! Maybe I need to weigh a few medals in... hahahah

I am not motivated by a medal, the challenge be it virtual or real is to get me out there what I like is a new t-shirt and I'd adore a buff.

Just signed up for Loch Ness I had the option to say no to a t-shirt and they wouold plant a tree instead, if there was an option for no medal I'd take that esp when I already have one. Note to self take it and sell it hahahaha

But I would never want a medal (or t-shirt) for something I've not earned. I did know a chap who ran ever GNR and had kept all the t-shirts, he asked if anyone who didn't want theirs would let him have it one year when he was injured. I would have given him mine but I didn't enter that year.

I did buy (in advance) a Highland Fling fleece, I was entered as part of a relay team not appreciating that it was a ballot - we didn't get through and I cant bring myself to wear it.

I sold my London t-short was it was far too big for me to wear but I was pleased when they started to do xs ones. If I had the option in most races of having no medal or t-shirt I'd take it. I have kept the medal and t-shirt from the HM we ran on our honeymoon and I think from the GNR which was my first HM in this incarnation as a runner and the GSR which is where I met my husband in person for the first time.

I sold a Race T-shirt on eBay one year. I did Outlaw as part of a relay team - I did the marathon part. I was given the wrong T-shirt. They gave me the one for someone who had done the whole event and not just the relay! I got about 30 quid for it.

I keep all my marathon medals but recycle the others

I wouldn’t want a medal I hadn’t earned, but I would accept a T-shirt for a race I’d volunteered at.

I need an edit button - though it would too late to correct my typo's now anyway I guess.
