I wore Brooks Cascadias. Not the perfect trail shoe, but much more cushioning that my usual Wave Ascend.

X-talons on the 50 for me and just one very small blood blister that I only found last night. I was very glad of the extra grip late on when the rain arrived.

Yes, it got slippy didn't it? Those Cascadias are not much use on wet rock, they do the business but the sole isn't very aggressive. Bobs (who is a skinflint) wore Asics Fuji Trabuco, the same knackered pair that she wore for the 50 last year. They're falling off her feet.

Cascadia and the various road-based Asics have been around for ever. I'll be wearing similar next year

I have no real idea about the first 50, but Speedcross were perfect for me, grippy but with a bit of cushioning.
I dont like Hokas (I have tried them), but saw lots of people in them last year, who I assume were all 100ers. They were all covered in mud.
If you could guarantee dryness I would consider the little Hokas (Rapa Nui?).

It's difficult to explain the emotion behind this shot - and it looks a lot better full screen (L100 page on FB if you want to see that).

Two runners take some time out on Yew Crag above Ullswater in the early morning on Saturday. It was hot overnight and now it's getting even hotter.
