glad I was err inspirational?!

Bought my kettle bells yesterday - remembered I had a voucher I can use at Argos so bought 3 then they said use your nectar points so I added a 4th and used the points!
So effectively 4 free kettle bells and enough left on my voucher for a 5th I think!
Cast iron ones
pick them up saturday although available now

Thanks Shark the Herald Angel😀
That’s a video I’d not seen before SPR. It’s great, explains easy strength very well. I didn’t realise George Hackenschmidt & Percy Cerruty had met.
I’ll be back later or tomorrow with a proper answer about how I’d periodise strength training for runners. I need to look some things up & I’ve got a few errands to run.

I'm chatting with my coach tomorrow to see what I need to do in the gym when I go back on Thursday. It will be tough after nearly 3 weeks off, but I'm looking forward to it.

I’m experimenting with doing a bit less in the gym but more frequently. So rather than spending an hour or so just doing weights I’m going to a class (usually core or spin) then doing a few weights before or after.

Suggestion from a PT I saw recently was to do a full body workout, doing four basic exercises, one push/one pull for upper body, one quad focussed/one hamstring or glute focussed for lower body. Then add in anything else you fancy. It’s working well so far and I can choose from what equipment is free.

I am hoping to train as a swimming teacher when I will get free gym which I hope will include the classes and Les Mils

If I do then I have the potential to really up my fitness game which is really exciting
also being in the pool or at home will reduce my snacking especially the boredom snacking!
and increase my reading time so I can get more knowledgeable about stuff like this too

Sounds great, Pix. I love doing body pump. Glad Mr Ness saw and bought the cheap 'body pump' bar and weights when he did. I have really had good use out of them. I'm still tempted to get a Les Mills subscription. But it is quite expensive considering I only use it once a week. At the moment I'm using the sessions people have put on YouTube and putting up with the interruption by adverts.

yeah that's it Ness it's £9:99 a month at the gym for Les Mils alone which I wouldn't pay
but if I get it free I may be more inclined too!!
Even if I don't just the use of the gym (and pool) will be beneficial and as it's unlikely that I would be needed to be "at work" for 8 then I can have a lie in and still run to work (it's about a mile closer than work is!)
I think that being there will make it easier for me to do the strength work as I will also be getting my running "fix"

I am yet to get beyond the "I am doing this because I have to" stage with strength work

That's the price for Les Mills online too.

I've always quite enjoyed my strength training. Started it with 3 twenty minutes sessions per week in the summer of 2011! Have gradually built up from that since. Motivated by the family history of osteoporosis which 🤞 I won't be troubled by.

I like strength training when I'm doing it but am struggling for motivation when I don't have a weekly session with a trainer. At least, motivation is there in my head, because I know there are all sorts of very good reasons for doing it, but translating it into action is not so easy!

Have decided that early(ish) mornings are the way to go - get it out of the way so no excuses pop up later in the day.
