Back down the gym after 5 weeks. It really was a struggle - can't believe how much strength I've lost. And stretching after was agony!!

Ah but you were there, Kwala! I'm sure it will soon return. In amazing news, I have learnt that if I eat well, I lift well. Who would have thought it? Managed 3 x 12 OHP today - I couldn't even complete 1 set of 12 last week with the same weight.

Duracell that's great, I hope you enter the competition 😃 Amazing work on the javelin Sharkie! I've been doing lots more running over the summer as I didn't take my bike on holiday. Did an 85 mile month! Usual is more like 35-55 so it was a big step up. Swimming going ok too, 400m PB last week. Cycling was going well until I've done something to my undercarriage, had a UTI after a big cycling week of 70 miles hard riding.... Then the antibiotics messed with my body and I've still got lots of pain. Appointment with consultant in 10 days. Pfffffft. Supposed to be racing my last Tri on Sunday but really not sure I should.
So I've been doing lots of body weight and lifting in PT. my shoulders look big and very defined, happy with that! Not sure what I'm lifting kg-wise but I do knowing feels smoother, technique is better too. My core and back feel strong. Altogether quite pleasing. Just the bike/undercarriage to sort. One doc mentioned I might have a urethral crush injury. Great!

Competition update! The weights keep changing, and I think it will be a challenge too far for me at this stage.... Deadlift event is max reps in 60 seconds - and the weight has moved from 70kg to 90kg up to 100kg now
I'll keep working hard over the next few weeks and see how I feel then. Training sounds great, Jude - not so good on UTI and under carriage Hopefully more positive news after consultant appointment.

Why has the weight changed Duracell? Seems odd that competitors can't train for a specific goal.

Hi SPR - I think it's based on entrants so far.
These ladies are STRONG - one of them trains at our gym and did 33 reps in 60 secs @ 90kg so I think they just keep upping the ante. Well, that and the fact that I think 70kg was a typo! You know me, SVB - I just don't want to be last! I was reasonably confident at 90kg - I've done that in training and managed 11 reps in the time (and that was after a beasting!) but 100kg just feels that much harder....

90-100kg is a leap, but one that sounds manageable. If you're last so what? All that means is you tested yourself against a heavy weight & stronger people, anything else is implied. Better to be last in a competition that's a true test of your abilities than to win by a mile in a competition that's too easy. That's just ego stroking & wont help you improve at all.

In total agreement with SVB. If you're not happy with your form/ progress ATM, that's a different matter but if you are then no point worrying about who else is entered. You'd have a small competition if everyone started dropping out when they thought they'd finish last.
P.S. I'm not just saying this, I've finished last in a few track races. In 2012 when I ran a then PB of 4:49 for 1500m, I was last by 18 secs if I remember correctly.

...and I was last in last track race of this year, and at various times between then and now.
