Classier where we are, as no cock and balls but "dirty" and "blue or yellow?" in the green on the pool floor (lido). Though they must have been cleaning it today as it was so cloudy! |

Hello swimmers, I am enjoying getting back into swimming again, for the last couple of months I have been swim training with a local Tri Club two mornings a week before work. No way I will ever do a Tri, can't ride a bike and only just starting to attempt run/walk again after years of illness and injury. It is good to have some structure and something different each swim session to keep it interesting! I am hoping to enter some open water events next year all being well, any recommendations?

Still looking MWW? What sort of time in the water are you looking at? I also came here with a question - how do you folks handle fuelling on longer swims? I was ready to eat a horse after yesterday's swim - so given that my July swim will be nearly double the time, I figure I need to think about fuelling. Any suggestions? |

I tried using gels on my long swim but I'm not sure it was entirely successful. I was doing a multi-lap course so could leave the gel attached to a water bottle and have some each time I came back to the start. Not sure if it was the gel's fault but I was horribly sick on my last lap!

Managed a bit better, hunger-wise on my second two hour swim. This one was a 7am morning swim (as opposed to 4.30pm), so I guess my body was also in a different place. Had toast before I went, and porridge when I came back. Then a four egg, tuna, tomato and onion omelette about three hours later, which kept me going until a late dinner at 9pm. |

18 lengths on my comeback trail. Breathing was a lot smoother than my first go last week. Aiming to swim once a week and see how it goes as my fitness recovers.
