It's a good article though.

By sub LT/MP, I mean my next zone up - which will be Zone C 82-85% maxHR. Eventually wanna get a better zone as my MP (obvs).

I was just suggesting that McMillan might have advocated these runs for a while. I checked the calculator and Steady State pace does equate with the pace discussed in the article.

livehealthy.chron.com SPR- I`m sure you`re right. I guess one`s steady-state is only going to be steady, or remain a state for long-er, if you allow yourself to resist tempo/LT acidosis. That said, I think GM encourages LT style tempo running far earlier than Hadd might have allowed. |

It's quiet in here... hopefully everybody's training is going well? I noticed a couple of decent sub-LT runs from buddies over the Christmas period. Although my December mileage was lower than the previous year, and my Spring marathon is earlier this year, my recent sub-LT runs seem to be heading in the right direction and my general run pace vs HR also seems to be improving. So, whilst I'm generally happy, I'll wait and see how I feel after my first 20-miler of the campaign on Sunday. |

I took a bit of a step backwards sadly, A cold in the first 2 weeks of December saw me drop the Sub LTs and when I got back to them I was almost back to where I started. I have started to make progress again in the last week and I think only now am I seeing HR return to normal levels. Only 2 weeks though before I switch from HADD to my 12 week marathon plan, but hopefully the Sept to November HADD base will be a good platform to build from |

You are the same as me. Although my 12 week plan for London starts 30th Jan. Am I doing wrong as I took it right up to the race date. Do you do up to the taper? |

Ah yes, I forgot, I am doing my 12 week plan starting 13 weeks out and have a week within there where I have a half marathon race so that start should be 30/1, but I decided to have the full 12 weeks as well as the prep race rather than modify the plan for race week. This will allow me to have a mini taper and maybe sneak an extra smaller session in at the start of race week.
