Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

To be honest, even after a right arsekicking I feel great but a different type of high, you know you're bollocksed but you don't care.

Anyway back on topic I plan to do some sort of base training this winter. Just increasing mileage with easy/steady runs. XC is all I have racing wise after tomorrow and thats great training.

If you ever get a PTI kicking you up the arse screaming "get the fuck moving you fucking lunatic" with a sadistic murderous glint in his eye, then you'll find out :P

Good thread folks, bit busy mind you, I canny keep up! Still getting to grips with HR training after a few years just winging it. Not following hadd to the letter just yet due to race commitments this year but have been reading it for some time now and likely to adopt some of the main principles in my base training this winter. Hopefully stand me in decent stead for spring marathon in London. :)

Yesterday I did a sub lactate run for 7 miles. Average heart rate was 157bpm with an avearge pace of 7.19/mile over a fairly undulating course. Felt fairly comfortable. I can fit two of these in each week while gradually increasing the distance. I doubt I would be able to fit two tempo runs in each week at the pace I was expected to run, something like 6.30/mile based on my last hm time.

It's different for everyone UC. Hadd uses 80% of max HR for these runs. Whatever pace that will turn out to be will entirely depend on your fitness.
