I've read a lot of negative comments and I'm not surprised.. I've got a big problem with the race (I've vented my spleen many occasions on here) that stems from my participation in 2012 and 2014 and its been 5 years since it made a comeback so you'd expect them to have it sorted by now. For what it is, its far too expensive..if you pay over 50 pounds for a race you expect better organisation and once again it failed to deliver. How it managed to scoop best marathon twice in a row God only knows, there are so many more deserving events out there.

Hills of Death (HOD)
Ok here's my issues with race.
Signage was shit luckily I knew where I was going as I had made the same journey between the Old Traffords as I went to Muse concert in 2010. My hotel was opposite Man U ground. I had no idea we had started but I thought the mat was a 'clue' !!! The route I thought was a lazy double backed route it had it's advantages but lazy never the less.
The baggage in was chaos one table thousands of people worst I've ever seen apart from Our own half !!!. Then had my arse slapped by Flanker I wish people would stop treating me like a sex object. Mile markers were confusing and off. Water stations very unorganised had to get my own water on a few.
Toilets nowhere near enough when I had my 'accident' at mile 16 (started about 15 or wherever the caffeine gel were as I think they were warm.) no one could tell me where they were. So went into a hotel where a Marshall was in there ages lost 6 mins.
Finish area very crowded hard to find people.
Baggage area I think has been said but I was lucky and had the 'express' number

I actually think that the huge road sign across Chester Road is meant to be the 'Start' line.

I wondered about that Vixx - whether they thought paying for the display photo banner thing (I presume they did) was better than a traditional arch, but as a spectator it was confusing, never mind for runners.

Indeed AL. I just saw it as that was where the Start was meant to be, but it would help if they actually had something because people are not psychic!

Changing the subject a little. At the finish I was handed a Chester marathon flyer for October. Anyone recommend it? Not that I won't be at GMM 2017. Might be just me and thee Nelly

Second that - I have only done the Metric version but it was a great race and I have only heard positive comments about the marathon

LOL pedro! I've heard good things about Chester, including from Bazoaxe, and it'll be the Autumn marathon I do if I do one (I like to sleep in my own bed pre-race!).
