I am also thinking along Fenix 7 when I upgrade but with X for larger watch face due to my eyes.I may need to save for it as well. Maybe this time next year.

Strange one for you all, during the race last weekend I had my fenix 7X reboot it's self multiple times (6-7 times over the 100 miles). Anyone had this before? It would reboot, and if I pressed resume it would carry on tracking / navigation, just with a gap of a few minutes in the trace. Very frustrating...

Yes, I've had this several times when following a route, but not often. I think they tend to be longer ones. I'm not clear what provokes it. (Epix)

When older watches had less memory there used to be a website to push a gpx file through to minimise redundant and unnecessary points. That might be a workaround, but when it's unpredictable it's hard to know.

This happened even when I wasn't navigating though, it was a 16km loop, so used nav for the first loop, but not after that. I have never had it happen before, and of course it had to happen during a race... As I only got the watch as a refurb from Garmin a few months ago, I shall reach out to them and see what they say.

I've had it combined with the fault of audio prompts stacking up and then releasing a load of, say, HR and turn prompts in an avalanche. I think that is more likely a problem of my Shokz headphones, though, so it is probably a red herring.

I don't have audio prompts turned on, so shouldn't be that, just typical that its worked fine for ages until I need it for a race...

I had something similar in my old Forerunner 45 - pretty basic - but it couldn't cope consistently with KM alerts and 1 mile laps, and the processor just used to give up in disgust. Press power on and it used to continue from more or less where it dropped (albeit with some unexpected straight bits on the GPS trace sometimes!). It used to be worse in the cold (as in finger numbing cold), or the hot (as in >20 degrees C).
Once I turned off the KM alerts it never happened again.
I'd hope the processor in a Fenix 7 is a bit more meaty, but it might be running some of the same code, I guess.

Not something I've seen with my 7
The issue I have is that I don't have audio prompts turned on - but occasionally they turn themselves on and I can't get rid.

I spoke with Garmin support, their suggestion was to delete any saved activities from the watch, which seems like a ridiculous approach but thats level 1 tech support for you...
I have had the same thing Rosehip, I have never used audio prompts but randomly one time when I didn't have my phone volume on mute I realised that it was giving audio km feedback for some reason.
