Southgate ? Graham Potter / Eddie Howe / Lee Carsley / maybe Jurgen Klopp ? Someone less obvious ?
Them seem to be the choices.

I know you're joking, but I think middle England would revolt if we replaced Southgate with a dour Scotsman.

The press are touting Gerrard and Lampard among the leading contenders. Let that one sink in for a moment.

Sounds good. Even better, Gerrard and Lampard as joint managers.

I reckon it'll be Lee Carsley.

Given the names being thrown about as likely I'd prefer Carsley. Worth remembering that when Southgate took it on it was as interim manager while they got a "Big Name" in to replace Allardyce. No-one thought he was the obvious choice including his employers.

i always think it's interesting when you look at places like the BBC sports website. Lots of people saying "we should have someone with a track record of winning trophies", and lots of people saying "we should definitely go with Eddie Howe".

And I'd remind everyone saying these things (again) that these are a lot of the people who were sure Keegan was absolutely perfect for England and nothing could go wrong now.
Football is chaos, football administration even more so.
