I nearly did a quick straw poll the other day of what FA Cup games should be on TV, but I though no not even ITV / BBC can mess this one up, it's too obvious. Alas, they have. Who makes these picks? Or am I missing something?

Can't comment on all of them, but the Villa West Ham game will have been picked as it had to be moved anyway as Small Heath have also been drawn at home, and an all League 1 tie is even less interesting to tv than the villa game...

Small Heath. Like it. Yes, I can't believe Villa reserves vs West Ham reserves was picked ahead of Chelsea-Morecambe or Newcastle-Bromley. And if any justification because they don't want to annoy League 2 fans for a long trip on a Friday night, there was always Leeds-Harrogate too. The other 5 I don't have much grumblings with. Wouldn't have had Millwall-Dagenham (not before those three anyway) but at least it makes some sense. |

Ha - they're just jealous we've won the only major trophy this century.... and seemingly going places, even if it is just the derelict Wheels park...

Liverpool v Accrington and Man City v Salford are dreadful choices. If the Premiership team were away they would be great, but this is just second-choice players in a stadium full of expectant/entitled fans who don't really care about the competition anyway. So there's no atomsphere, little chance of a shock, and nothing to get neutrals interested, even if it will get big viewing figures by the small minority who support one of those clubs. Villa-West Ham is likely the sort of game I despise as well. It's two clubs who have a chance of getting to the cup final if they get a couple of breaks, but will field understrength sides and not care as they don't want a cup run dropping them a place or two in the league due to the money it brings in. These games are also usually very dull. Leeds-Harrogate should be on, Palace-Stockport is good chance of a shock, with Everton-Peterborough a better shout than most of the options picked. |

That's a very interesting differing view Dave. When the draw was made I thought there were about 6 instant matches to pick, and I grudgingly included Arsenal-United in there plus included the first two you mentioned without hesitation. Though despite hating Leeds, I'd have picked that match potentially first of the lot. As for Villa-West Ham, its been pointed out that it's on TV twice next month. FA Cup and then league about 2 weeks later. |

Dave i agree with that rant bar Leeds-harrogate as that'll be exactly as you describe the Liverpool and man u games, but with even fewer away fans. Villa West Ham should be way down the tv list. You're right Chris, definitely jealous of how you're going places, how is the backtracking over building a new ground going? |

Not sure we're backtracking on the new one - the park is purchased, just they need to pump money into the current stadium to stop it from falling down. Look even I'm surprised we won the League cup in 2011, and that no-one else in the Midlands has replicated it since. But it's worth it just to see the reaction from Arsenal supporters when reminded of it when they remember that winning goal... Obafemi Martins never did another thing in his career for anyone after that. |

There was a decent bit of chat a few months ago chris about it needing the council to invest in infrastructure to make it happen, but perhaps those issues have been sorted. To be honest, I hope it works out for you, but I can't help drawing comparisons to the hyperbole that surrounded Coventry moving from Highfield at the time which quickly led to their near collapse from the debts. Hopefully the risk is with the owners not the club this time around |
