Don’t stop with the footy ground TR, just go for the town full stop. What a hell hole.

Bob!
I see both sides of it, and as much as I love the memory of Filbert Street I’d rather stick with the King Power now it’s there. The Brighton one is a good example. I never went to either of the previous grounds that Brighton called home but the new ground is a fantastic stadium, very modern, good views, plenty of space BUT it’s on the best site they could get which is miles out of the town and an absolute shitter for away fans. Is it a step up from the old place (the Withdean?)? Definitely, but the progress there is a compromise. The perfect solution didn’t work exist in the real world. Nellers We never called Withdean ( nor Priestfield) home. The Goldstone was home until it was asset stripped away from us. After that we were biding time until we got a new ground. |

I wasn't sure if it was ever "home" but it was one of the grounds you played at before the AMEX was built wasn't it? And am I remembering right about the siting of the Amex? It was basically the best site available after a lot of hassles trying to find a better site? (And it is a lovely stadium. Just in the wrong place for a lot of the travelling fans.) |

I also can see both sides of the stadium conversation. I really liked Highbury, White Hart Lane and Boleyn. However some old grounds are not very likeable e.g. Hillsborough for the reason that stantions block the view. Been to both Filbert Street and King Power, neither do much for me. Stadium of Light is relatively new but nothing special. However it is very subjective not objective. |

White Hart Lane was nice, both the old iteration with the Shelf, and the stadium as it was before they rebuilt. Craven Cottage, and Loftus road were decent. Never really liked Highbury, dunno why. The old Stamford Bridge was horrible, they’d put us in the middle paddock of that open away end miles from the pitch. Less said about old and new Den the better…. |

This is the 80s version I remember most. The away paddock is at the bottom, you were so isolated. You can really see how shit the ground was. |

The old vetch field was hilarious. Fenced off, falling down and in a row of terraced houses next to the prison The main stand was like a sopwith camel biplane. Had an odd half of one end cantilever section |
