today I went over ~35 of my own flowers and scored only 26 for watering them. At a guess they are not mostly at 20 points. Anyway, even if they are at 20, shouldn't I still get some points? Otherwise they are just preventing me from adding a new flower in that location/waiting for someone to steal them.

Chris - once they reach 20 that's it and they then prevent you planting any more. You still get 1 point for the 'plant' but it does not appear on the map or your account flower list if it's within another object which includes traffic lights etc. Also if they have been watered within the last 7 days then there is the possibility of not getting any further points due to the 1/7,2/7 probability effect of hitting flowers within that 7 day period. You may have just been unfortunately this run.

My gripe with flowers used to be that you run x miles you plant y flowers then you run the same route and water y flowers AND plant another y flowers and then you run the same route and water most of the flowers again and plant another y flowers and so on and so on. Where's the gameplay?! It didn't seem to be in the spirit of the game which I believe is about planning your routes and therefore trying different routes.
So I like the fact that flower trails can be maxed out. The tactic must then be to run a different route and create a new flower trail.

Oh dear. I've not run since the end of March due to an ankle injury. I'm targeting early July to start running again (have a walking holiday planned meantime). I see I've gone from +1500 to -5790 while I've been out of action. I'm going for a walk shortly so I'll do some bug-hunting while I'm out - it won't affect my score that much but it will give me something to do while I'm waiting to start running.

Can anyone explain the running total issue? Please.
I start the day at +3200 collect all my bugs and other stuff and score 240. End the day on total + 3440.
Next day Bug Bonus + 200 but my Total is now +3195????
Is it me?

Welcome DawdleFish.
The fetchpoint score is a rolling 30 day score. So for your example I would say that 31 days ago you scored 445 points that have now been removed.
