Intriguing. Not sure what that will mean for me but intriguing all the same. Is this a big change from their current choice, options, etc, do you know? There's a few I've not tried, roclites being the obvious despite occasionally thinking of getting them, but I do favour some of their shoes over others. |

We discussed the new Mudtalon Speed a couple of pages back. Well, there's a non-Speed version coming in March, ie just Mudtalon. Described as "Compared to the MUDTALON SPEED, the MUDTALON has a slightly thicker midsole, to give greater comfort and bounce over long distances" Still the same 8mm lugs, difference in midsole is 11mm/7mm so 4mm drop for Speed, and 18mm/12mm so 6mm drop for the non Speed. Again comes in both Precision and WIde fit Weight has only gone up a claimed 5g from 260g to 265g. Does this sound like a replacement for the X-Talon Ultra v2 ?? inov-8.com Oh and other thing is it's cheaper, more is less £120 v £130 for the Speed |

We've just booked our first lakes trip in March. Staying in Ambleside, but no car. Any "don't miss" runs you recommend? Doesn't have to be famous bits, I prefer quiet locations and happy to get buses to places. |

If you fancy a bigger day out, bus around to Troutbeck, then up to Nan Bield and round the Kentmeer Horseshoe. One of my favourite training routes.

From Ambleside you can do a loop that takes in Baystones and Wansfell By Pike.

I’ve just picked up a pair of Innov8 212s from the Sportshoes website. looks like they have some decent prices on there at the moment. There is also a 15% discount code in the Telegraph for February. RT2404 |

Thank you Dave A. Not sure how much kit I can afford at the moment but I need a few bits including probably an entire fleet of trainers.

My Xtalons haven’t recovered from climbing on gabbro, not even shoe goo will save them for anything else other than a few local runs round fields do had to buy some more at some point t. |
