Haven't there been cases where mobile phones and other electronic devices have reset compass needles when they are stored next to each other in people's bags?

That's definitely been the case. I try and keep compasses and mobile phones apart.

I've had several compasses reverse polarity over the years. Can be confusing until you realise. A good outdoors shop can reverse the reverse.

Really? Hmm. I'm not sure if we have a "good" outdoors hop here in Harrogate, we have Cotswold but I'm not sure they would be able to do it
