Some friends of ours are moving house today. Intrigued to see where they were moving to I had a look on Google street view and found this bird had been caught in flight by the camera. |

The weird thing is that, although clearly a sparrow, in the zoomed out image it looks the size of a pigeon. I guess that must be down to the type of lens on the camera.

We had a very odd bird of prey call on our run. Saw it briefly not a buzzard but best described as a call like an angry seagull 😂 it's in the same place where we've seen a possible owl before but this was smaller than that. Weird. It was mostly grey that I saw but didn't think it was sleek enough to be a perigrine (lots around there). |

Are birds seen from your garden 'ticks'? I have always been more strict about this, only counting birds which have landed in my garden or on foliage overhanging my garden. But on Springwatch this year Chris Packham counted a white-tailed eagle which had flown over his garden as a tick. Thoughts?

You’re not going to get an eagle perched on your gladioli are you? I’d count it. I once heard some pinkies in the dark and mist and ran outside but couldn’t see them. One of my favourite ‘ticks’. Would you not count swift in your airspace?

Depends on the size of the garden! For example, doesn't Chris Packham live in a big forest, so he could well get a white-tailed eagle.
