That sounds pretty scary Kinky 😱😱😱 unprovoked too... They are big birds and like swans, can do serious damage!

Mu mum used to keep geese, and always referred to them as 'better than a guard dog'. Good for keeping unwanted humans at bay, and apparently also foxes away from her chickens.
In other news, I saw a pigeon considering nesting or checking out a bush in the back garden earlier. Where a pair of blackbirds have been busy all week building a nest. Or hiding a load of moss for some other reason. The male blackbird saw the pigeon off, and then just to sure, had another go at it, even thought the pigeon was x5 or x6 the size.

KinkyS, I now feel I had a lucky escape on yesterday's run! I ran past a couple of greylags standing on a river bank and was amazed that they didn't fly off with a runner approaching them at speed, but casually waddled away at the last minute allowing me to pass within a metre of them. Little did I realise that I was taking my life in my hands!

Fragile Do Not Bend
Trip to Rye Harbour for a walk with a warden. Saw sandwich terns, a swallow, a marsh harrier, ringed plovers and a whimbrel amongst plenty of other birds. Had to rely on the warden for ID of the whimbrel

Nana had geese as chicken guards (and Christmas dinner) too. Mum has a scar on her calf from being attacked by one 40-odd years ago and one chased my brother all the way across the yard into the house when he was little.

I just did a bit of reading and it seems that the wingspan of a Canada goose is 1.5-1.8m. I'm only 1.57m myself!
Amusingly, there are noticeable spikes on my Garmin data for both pace and heart rate at that point...
