Just had the starlings return for the first time in a few weeks with several fledglings.

Blackcaps seem to be the loudest and most common songsters around here at the moment. One singing in the garden too.

Have just seen a willow-chiff š no singing so not sure which one it was and couldnāt see the legs close enough to determine colour šš¤£ but lovely to see one (perched on a reedy thing in the park quite close to me) nonetheless š

Fetchies your help is needed. Went on another brilliant new walk from home today. Loving keep finding new places that we never knew about. Saw a bird of prey, when I first saw it thought it had a forked tail and was a red kite. But it didnt look, the only way I can put it, quite right from previous plenty of spotting of red kites - not enough colour for one. Then I thought I'd got excited over a strange looking buzzard. Manged to get off two quick shots with my camera at maximum zoom, so not very clear. But, with some of the knowledgeable types on here I thought one of you might be able to see enough to give an ID? Now I've looked at the pictures it doesnt look buzzard like either. Size wise difficult to judge, but it was very large which made me initially think red kite.

From the wing pattern, I'd have said red kite as well, but you are right, doesnt look quite right.

I'd say buzzard. One thing about buzzards is that they seem to come in a range of different colour schemes, which is quite confusing - you get very light ones, very dark ones, and everything in between.
