I'm annoyed. I took this picture yesterday in Clapham Woods, but I only had my standard lens with me. Ive got a 70 to 300 zoom lens sitting in the wardrobe.

I think there buzzards, but I'm not sure.

Hello um.

Thanks for letting me know. Perhaps I'll have to follow in your footsteps & think about getting a bigger zoom lens. The only trouble is, I'm a Nikon man & my 70 - 300 is quite heavy, well, for an old codger like me. If I did get a bigger lens, I'd have to lug a tripod about to stop camera shake.

Well the running is suffering, but the flip side is that I'm exploring a lot more of the local area on foot with the wife.

And because of that, managed to spot my first swallow of the year. Very chuffed.

Bonners, I saw my first swallows of the year today as well. About 3/4 of them over the lake.

Also saw a couple of Jay's which I dont see much around here. And several bullfinches, goldfinches and chaffinches.

I was stood at the door watching a pair of Buzzards soaring against a clear blue sky and admiring the underwing patterns when something else shot through the bins. Soon realised it was a Sprawk harrasing them. Great views of all three birds but I'm always intrigued as to why a Spawk would waste it's energy chasing Buzzards? They don't really compete for the same food sources nor are the Buzzards any threat to them?

Interesting, the crows always harass the buzzards round here. , quite brave for a sparrowhawk.

@roberto,I'm also seeing a couple of jays on a regular basis, again, wouldn't really see them under normal circumstances
