Always a delight to see a new bird on one's regular patch. I just saw a snipe, the first I've seen on my regular riverside run. It was flying over, at impressive speed, heading for a patch of marsh about 100 metres away. I've seen them a mile or two down the river but never there.

Just been to the red kite feeding station near Castle douglas. Was expecting there to be maybe up to 20 birds. Well over 100 swooping for the meat. Was incredible.

Roberto, I've been on holiday in that area the last 3 summers and have been amazed by the number of red kites, this year particularly. Brighouse Bay is a lovely spot.

J2R, as it's near your patch, did you see a white-tailed eagle was recorded in Salthouse Heath yesterday? Annoyingly we unknowingly drove through their on our way to Cley!
(it was on the sightings list at Cley WWT so I'm assuming it was reliable)
Did get nice views of the bearded tits and snow buntings between the squalls!
