OK, I'll assume they are local first years, unless I hear them speaking Russian.

Amazing stuff, Steve, you missed them last year didn't you? I was excited by a couple of 100 starlings on a mini murmuration ending up in our garden.

just checked bonners--no, I did see them last year as usual. The same fall in overnight temperature coupled with clear skies gave rise to movement last year on 30th October ..less heavy but still 25,360 in two hours. Half the number but still a lot!
No Fieldfare yet for me.

Staying at Brighouse Bay in Dumfries and Galloway. Saw a juvenile red kite while out for my run this morning. Flew very low, directly above my head. Also spotted a couple of stonechats I think but not sure, they were sort of hovering and making a click sound.

Stonechat are kind of bee-like and ‘all head’. I think of them as perching birds - they seem to like perching on posts or in the top of small bushes / shrubs

Stonechats do make a 'chat, chat' sound, which sounds like what you're talking about. The gorse round Brighouse Bay is perfect territory for them.

They landed on top of a few branches and perched for a while so I could ge a look at them. There were two. One had a black head with a bit of a white collar, Other was kind of brown (female I think from a google search). It’s a first for me so will try and get them with my camera
