Nope, none of those. Going out on the river later, plenty of shellduck and redshank. We have greylag and canadian geese, no brents unfortunately. There is a couple of snipe at the RSPB reserve at Conwy apparently, I've not seen them though.

Keep ‘em peeled
It’s fascinating how birds are so environment specific. I see dipper most days on my 35 - 40 min dog walks but would love to see or even hear a common shoreline bird like a redshank

Heinzster - Mum and Dad live just over the road from Ward Park - down at the tennis court end. I bet the cages for the birds were exactly the same as the last time you were there, 40 years ago!
I think we have snipe in the field next to my bungalow. It’s right beside the lough and, when I take the kayak down, I usually disturb a small brown bird that waits until I am virtually on top of it before it takes flight. There’s certainly snipe drumming to be heard in the spring/ early summer.

HowFar, yes, they haven't changed at all. Probably a bit worn, but so am I!

I remember hearing a woodpecker on a run in Canada one time...at first I thought it was someone relentlessly hammering away at his house for ages(!) until hubby told me what it was!!
