Well done DT :-) heard at least two on the golf course this morning but I've just seen the result of today's birdcount at the reservoir by home and the count there today was 14 in contrast to 93 this time last year!

We seem to have a particularly exuberant Song Thrush this year singing it's heart out morning and evening from the top of a large tree opposite the house.

19 / 93 sounds about right

We went for a walk from Hardcastle Crags to Gibson Mill and back earlier today and no chiffchaff there, which feels amazing. I thought we were nailed on after my patch success earlier

Yes, DT, no chiffchaffs on my regular route since the one on Tuesday either. I think he must have gone "Sod this, I'm heading back to the Med!".

I've noticed a pair of blackbirds at the bottom of the garden recently and when I went to the compost bin earlier I found the nest they've been making. I've never knowingly had any birds nesting in any of my gardens before. :)

Nice Dochart. I'm heading over to the west side of the Lakes from tomorrow and I'll be interested to see how many Wheaters have made it there. I did spot a lone one in Borrowdale a couple of weeks ago, looking somewhat forlorn in the swirling snow.
I also had Grey Wag this morning, it was sitting on the wing mirror of my van as I headed out for a run, first one round the house in ages :-)

Little to report this afternoon apart from a loud nuthatch and a skulking jay. Very cold wind has put everything down me thinks

At last..my first Chiffchaffs; two singing this morning. Couple of Great Spotted Woodpeckers drumming and a Dipper singing half a mile from my front door! DT and I are lucky!
