Love High Pike, it's got a particularly good summit bench

I like High Pike too, it just seems to be the epicentre of those rolling Northern Fells. Last time I was there I met Sir Chris having a bit of a breather on that bench, I think he's a regular visitor.

Im currently reading A Slender Thread, I’ll take it along and get him to sign it if he’s out and about 😉

You could always go and knock on his door, he might not be too impressed with that though :-)

Dave A - I'm out on a group run round the Carrock Fell race route tonight which takes in High Pike too. I'll let you know what the conditions are like (apart from "dark").

Cheers Simon. I’ve just looked at the fell from a distance on a country road run around Ivegill.

Simon, what time were you up there? We were out walking the dogs as it got dark and saw head torches coming from that direction.

We were up between 5:30 and 7 before heading to the Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket. There were 5 of us and we didn't see anyone else up there so may well have been us.

It's boggy up there. Nor much more detail to report as I was hanging out the back trying to breath.

That was good fun. Did a loop from Nether Row. High Pike with hail on the climb. Sir Chris nowhere to be seen. Dropped out of the cloud and got done stunning views as we walked up to Carrock Fell. Hit the summit and got hail/snow all the way back to the col until we dropped down and took the longer, lower, route back.
Dogs are knackered. Wood burner is going.
