Rosehip
that's awful Coachie I'm scared enough on a campsite with rules - but there are unattended fire baskets with sparks flying everywhere.
people are stupid.

You're too generous Rosehip. They are far worse than stupid.
Newlands is on my list for next year.

Had a really nice walk on a bit of the old coach road and over Threlkeld Knotts this morning. Watched two "racing snakes" hare up what I think must be the BG line towards Clough Head ( White peak end) ??
Really dry where I expected it to be a bit boggy - which was a good thing since I forgot to change my shoes and was walking in Sketchers "civvies" ! Wish I could capture the view better on my phone, it was fabulous this morning

I walked past some of the old mine workings, the fire I could see at night was two camped up off-roaders, who looked to be being very sensible and had a fire pit on a the stony ground well away from vegetation.

was lovely - wish I had been feeling fit enough for proper climbs, not just the end of ridge lumps

That sounds lovely Ros. The line up Clough Head via White Pike is indeed a BG line, many prefer it to the frontal race line.
I'm over in Ennerdale right now at the foot of Bowness Knott. Yesterday we decided to do the fells south of Loweswater, so wobbled over Burnbank Fell, Owsen Fell, Blake Fell, Gavel Fell then over to Hen Comb. Finished off with both summits of Melbreak and the dodgy descent down the north face to the Kirkstile pub and cider. Flanker's advice was spot on 🙂 We were dead slow, Saturdays race was hard. Barely saw a soul all day, despite madness elsewhere in the Lakes..... I'm hearing Wasdale and Langdale were insane.

In the Fens it is so dry the ground is already cracking. Littleport parkrun may be interesting if we don't get rain soon.
And I'm sure I heard two or three arrested for deliberately starting the fires on Ilkey Moor

Did a bit of Birkett-bagging this morning, Knock Murton then High Hows, Godsworth and Kelton Fell. Up around 370 now I think 🤔.
