Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Mark - I'm sure you do but make sure you tell your sister that, and often, it makes the world of difference.

I want to say that I hope you don't have to do it for too much longer XB but I'm not sure that's the right thing.

LMH, I do try to!
The good news is that she's just got agreed respite care for a week in every other month now until the end of the year.

Having an awful day! Fil is peeing blood- looks bright red! He had a uti last week, We didn't think the antibiotics worked. He's been off them 3 days and has now been put back on penicillin.
Then the carer manager turned up to say that one of our carers had tested positive for COVID. We've all just been swabbed (me, hubby and Fil). Thank goodness we had our AZ jab last week but it's probably too soon for us to have much immunity.

Oh dear DeaJay - talk about all at once! I hope the blood in the urine is just a UTI or kidney infection and that you all test negative.

Thank you. I think it was a carer who came here last night who got a positive test result this morning.

I think red urine is pretty common with a UTI and nothing to be particularly alarmed about, even if it's a bit shocking to notice it.

Also, after a very long run on a very hot day with insufficient fluid, but I only did that the once...

Also: After someone dies, if their home insurance was only in their name, sadly the cover becomes void. But if the policy was in joint names, it will still cover the surviving policyholder (though the names on the policy will need to be updated).

Pension Credit. The rules are a bit complex but if your elderly relative has some sort of disability (in this case dementia/Alzheimer's) and go into a home, they may be able to claim pension credit. So if carers allowance stops, it seems pension credit can start. It can also be backdated.
