Listening on TMS was almost as nerve wracking as watching the England innings in the semi-final in Bristol. Both were equally bad for the blood pressure.

Atonal Miserabilist (AFKA TRO)
After the glory, the passion and the winning mentality of the Women's side back down to Earth with that bunch of losers, wastrels and incompentents called the men's Test XI. Given the weatherfilth this week hopefully the entire test will get rained off, and thus the warm glow from last Sunday can carry on.... |

Anyone listening to the Test Match Special documentary on Radio 5? The first hour is sounding like confessions of Alcoholics Anynonomous.

Wriggling Snake
Even though Westley and Roland-Jones are playing I would still like Malan to get a gi ahead of Dawson...the battinf was oants so it need sorting out. Wood could have a pretty short career at this rate. |

Atonal Miserabilist (AFKA TRO)
Wood is chronically fragile a30-3nd I fear the new Simon Jones. It appears that Dawson's role is to enable Ali to pretend he actually isn't the front line spinner so he can bowl under less pressure. FFS. Logic of our batting is that the top 3 are accumulators, Root at 4 is all things and then we have some biffers who can take the game away from the oppo in the middle/late order. That top 3 has to do its bloody job though, because when those biffers come in at 30-3 with the ball still doing things it's carnage and they can't adapt. Shame Hameed never cemented his spot and started the season well anough.... |

There is hope that Ballance will go the Hameed 'injured and then not selected again' route, I suppose. I'm not sure why we need Toby Hyphen-Barrel; I'd rather see someone Plunkett-like. (If that guarantees him a hatful of wickets I won't mind, but I fear he's no Angus Fraser, or indeed, Derek Pringle) Dawson is an obvious comedy selection who really should be nowhere near the side; please can they pick Malan instead, even though he's probably NTC. In other news, 6 sixes for Ross Whitely, who can really biff it when required... and watch out for Josh Tongue, who is now getting mentioned on Sky Sports. |
