fraggle
Back form a few days on Cornwall with minimal internet and no mobile reception at my Mum's. Thank god I missed that debacle!

Batting was a disaster - we're in danger of needing to bring Geoffrey out of retirement :-(

Got an e-mail from Durham CCC yesterday, we have a Test Match, v Sri Lanka, at the Riverside in 2016, from 27-31 May, plus Bristol gets an ODI, v Sri Lanka, somehow though, the Taffs get two ODIs, one against Sri Lanka & one v Pakistan.

they offer a bigger profit for the ECB

A test match in May in Durham could be a bit of weather nightmare, it's bad enough down south sometimes.

Cardiff is very near to England really.

Durham has lower average rainfall than London, lower average number of rainy days in May and the day length in May is longer. It's a couple of degrees colder on average, but that probably affects Sri Lanka more than England.

There is a book "rain stopped play" which analyzes the amount of play lost by rain at the world's first class cricket ground, the effect this has had on play in test matches, county championship etc etc. Old Trafford & Cardiff are the rainiest by some distance, but Lords & Oval surprisingly high on the list.

Too Much Water
Imagine most of the rain has fallen by the time it reaches Durham given our westerly weather patterns

Cold is quite big thing when you're sitting about watching and hanging about in the field.

I went to the Eng v Aus Durham test in 2013, it was cold, rained and not a great experience, the game was ace though.

Lords is taking the piss these days........

Trent Bridge, best ground.
