This was the men's league. There are more and more clubs in the area starting a women's section - but beyond the midland women's league which has two or three teams from Leics in it, it's all friendlies so far. Will be interesting to see how it develops over the next few years - if the interest in women's cricket locally continues, then I could imagine a local league being established in two or three years.

That would be good, I am not involved but I see the women's game is the expanding part in local clubs, but a full blown league is a big step.

Off topic (slightly) but the women's Rugby Union game has a national league structure in place. I believe the RFU has just created a challenge cup type competition to allow new teams to gain experience before joining the league pyramid.

Similar story in women's and girls' rugby league. 2021 saw big growth in new clubs & new countries playing, which seems odd given the pandemic (and in contrast to the multi-decade slow decline in men's team sports). They have development leagues for new clubs, with small-sided games, so that you don't need to find 17 players to get going.
I would've thought the hundred was quite a boost for women's cricket, just in terms of women being on free-to-air tv playing the game.

Anyway. Australia have won all of their 8 pink ball day/night games at home. One crumb of comfort Hazlewood is their best bowler in that.
I think 150 run, 5 or 6 wicket defeat then.

We go on about our bowlers in that format, yet the Aussies have some pretty handy seamers themselves. And let's be honest, our batsmen can loose their wickets in any circumstances, a moving ball under lights? The Aussies will be chomping the bit.
When are we doing predictions? I thought I was too pessimistic last time, turns out not pessimistic enough

Got to ROFL at Root trying to big up England's performance in Brisbane. Like, they only had two batting collapses, it could have been worse........ um.....how exactly?
